HOUSE

‘Casa Amenta Maria’ is in the centre of Italy, between Florence and Rome. The house has thick walls made out of various types of stone. It dates back from 1870 and was built along a slope. An extensive renovation project has been carried out in 1996/1997. The basis was reinforced and daylight entrance was improved. The architect Theo Verburg (NL) has created a lot of space and improved the view on the Tiber valley that extends for over 50 km.

It is a two-story house with a large central vide. The upper level has a bathroom and two bedrooms. One room has a double bed and a French balcony with a view over the valley. The other room is larger and has two beds and one double bed. The lower level has a central open space with to the left a sitting room with a fireplace, and to the right an open kitchen with fireplace. In an annex there is a bathroom at the lower level. In addition to fireplaces and a woodstove there is a central heating system. The house is provided with a washing machine, there is no TV.  

There is a 32 m2 swimming pool and the garden has various terraces. There is ample opportunity to sit outside, both in the sunshine and in the shadow.
The lower slope has a few olive and pine trees. Along the upper terrace there is a large mimosa tree and some Acacias. The borders have Oleander trees which flower throughout summer and beyond.
